How do we hold MSP Accountable?

Peter’s Notes (transcript):

How do we hold MSP’s accountable? umm this is a question that we got and we you know the whole point of this is umm when we’re working with when you’re working with the managed service provider like what?
Is it important and I think some of the questions that we answer is why is it important that we hold MSP’s accountable and what you know what do we do as part of the relationship?
So it might even be that this is not just how do we hold MSP’s accountable it might be how we hold MSP’s accountable or how do we work together.
Like what is it good at you know how how how what’s your the relationship with your manager as provider B like ultimately you know what is a good what is that relationship when it’s good what does that look like?
Because I think that’s one of the things that sets us apart specifically is the way. A that we partner with our customers and that we’re actively working with them on their business in order for both sides to benefit right so. Kind of the tongue not the tongue in cheek or like the reality of it is the more efficient and effective customers business can run.
Less costly it is for us to help them manage and uh means that we can do other things that are peered more toward the revenue generation side we can push for and include more in that avenue. we’re not as focused on um dealing with just break fix stuff let’s say not break fix but um uh trouble tickets and things like that right we still handling trouble tickets but we have these other things that we are doing that you know we can further tune systems for the automate things um further provide more robust reporting in a way that um kind of completes a feedback loop uh with the customer and part of that feedback loop is that they you know tell us what is going on and um that’s mutual accountability so if they feel that something isn’t going well and where they were unhappy with an interaction you know they need to tell us and part of that is that we do have a couple of systems in place that are valuable to that relation.
So part of the accountability is a c-satscore customer satisfaction. We use a tool called smileback. Um you know if you uh you could just go check out what smileback does but doesn’t that promoter score and customer satisfaction. It’s you know every ticket that goes out. From our side or even a project will send over um every ticket gets like a little survey at the end of how we’re doing you know uh smiley face neutral face angry face kind of a thing click one let us know how we did.
And then um the other side. That is on our projects and things will send out final surveys at the end of the project like how did it go how do you feel that we did.
Um and so that’s part of like we take that that. So those scores and we hold ourselves internally accountable to it our teams performance.
You know that’s part of their performance of KPIs that we measure against. So that we can directly speak to is like we hold ourselves accountable there and through their partnership and giving us that feedback it holds us you know it’s their way of holding us accountable for very minimal work.
Um the other pieces of that is just. You know general conversation and check-ins during meetings with uh with the stakeholders from either side and how we work together to just build again that most efficient machine.
Um so that we can. You know ideally reduce downtime across the board, increase productivity and hopefully free up budget right to do to work on other things that make everybody else more money which is projects they build more capability for the customer and the things that we make our additional pulses in revenue. Umm so that’s kind of the hand in hand there. So let me know if you have any other questions on this for how we hold them accountable.

How Do We Hold Managed Service Providers (MSPs) Accountable?

The Importance of Accountability in MSP Relationships

One key question we often receive is: “How do we hold MSPs accountable?” This is crucial when working with a managed service provider (MSP). Accountability ensures that the MSP not only meets but exceeds expectations, fostering a productive and mutually beneficial relationship.

Defining a Successful MSP Partnership

To understand the importance of accountability, we need to examine what a successful relationship with an MSP looks like. At Facet, our approach sets us apart due to our active partnership with our customers. We work closely with them to ensure their business runs efficiently and effectively, which, in turn, reduces costs for us and allows us to focus on revenue-generating activities rather than merely addressing trouble tickets.

Strategies for Holding MSPs Accountable

  1. Mutual Accountability:
    • We believe in a feedback loop where both parties share their experiences and concerns. If a customer feels something isn’t going well, they need to inform us. This mutual accountability ensures continuous improvement and satisfaction.
  2. Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) Scores:
    • We use a tool called SmileBack to measure customer satisfaction. After every ticket or project, customers receive a survey with options to rate our performance using smiley, neutral, or angry faces. This immediate feedback helps us gauge our performance and make necessary adjustments.
  3. Project Surveys:
    • At the end of each project, we send out detailed surveys asking customers how they felt about the project and our performance. This helps us understand our strengths and areas for improvement.
  4. Internal KPIs:
    • We hold our teams accountable internally by measuring performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) derived from customer feedback. This ensures our teams are consistently aiming to improve and deliver the best service.
  5. Regular Check-ins:
    • Frequent meetings with stakeholders from both sides help maintain open communication and address any issues promptly. This ongoing dialogue is vital for building an efficient, collaborative relationship.

Benefits of Accountability

Accountability leads to reduced downtime, increased productivity, and potentially freeing up budgets for more strategic projects. These projects not only build additional capabilities for the customer but also generate additional revenue streams for us.

By holding ourselves and our MSPs accountable, we create a partnership that drives success for both parties.
